Digital Marketing: Changing the way businesses think about marketing.

Traditional marketing is dead! OK, so maybe that’s a bit extreme, but it certainly is losing much of it’s effectiveness with each passing year. Before the popularity of the Internet, marketing was mostly comprised of television, radio and print advertisements. These methods have continued to rise in cost and there’s virtually no way to determine how effective they are. For instance, there’s no way to know how many people have actually seen your billboard or which of your radio spots was the most effective.
Businesses are quickly discovering that to keep up in this increasngly “digital” age they have to focus more of their marketing efforts toward creating an effective web presence. This means developing a strategy that includes a number of elements such as an optimized website, social media management, search engine optimization, paid ad management and content marketing to name a few. Used correctly, a digital marketing strategy can be incredibly effective at driving more traffic to your business while allowing you to accurately measure your return on investment.
Here are some key findings from a recent study done by Fleishman-Hillard International Communications in conjunction with Harris Interactive:
  • 89% of consumers use the internet when making purchasing decisions
  • Nearly half of those surveyed (42 percent) currently follow or friend a brand on a social networking site.
  • Nearly one in five individuals now looks to Facebook to obtain information about a brand or product.
  • Almost two out of three consumers surveyed use a mobile/smartphone to gain information on a brand, product or destination at least three or four days a week.
To stay ahead of the marketing curve, it’s increasingly more important for bussineses to connect with people online and interact with them socially. No matter who you’re trying to reach, it’s a fact that more people are relying on mobile devices and the web to search, find and purchase the products and services they need.
