WideNet named Small Business of the Year

WideNet was honored to be named the 2011 Emerging Small Business of the Year after 5 years of being named a Small Business of Excellence by the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, the largest business organization in east-central Alabama. The chamber, with a membership of over 800 companies, annually names two businesses in the community as ‘Small Business of the Year’. One of those businesses is ‘Sustaining’, a company that has been in operation for many years (this year’s recepient was AOD Federal Credit Union) and the other category is a business under 10 years old, termed ‘Emerging.’

US Congressman Mike Rogers and Chamber president Sherri Sumners were on hand to make the presentation at the Small Business Awards Gala held at the Oxford Hilton.

Among the elements the nominators and judges take into account for the honor include growth, success, diversity, reputation, over coming obstacles, and community involvement.
